Undergraduate and Graduate Experiences

I have had the pleasure of serving multiple communities during my time at Kennesaw State University and The University of Georgia. View a few sample works below.

Abstract: Vaccine education and science literacy rates of youth were much lower during the COVID-19 pandemic for a variety of reasons. The Journeys magazine issue discussed on the ePoster presentation aims to address this issue and debunk the myths surrounding vaccines. Similarly, the FACS Needs Assessment conducted by UGA Extension team members aimed to better understand the needs of Georgians and gather intel to develop, implement and evaluate programs that will be beneficial to the community at large. To do this a statewide survey was sent out during the spring of the year and focus groups were conducted and analyzed this summer. The results of both projects are still pending review however, there are positive outcomes such as an increase in science literacy rates and the ability to implement new programs that address direct needs voiced by the community. The significance of both of these findings are astounding and will provide Georgians with the research based unbiased education and programming they need to develop their own opinion about various topics. You can find the magazine gallery below the ePoster presentation.

During my time as a Graduate Research Assistant with UGA Extension, I was asked to create these one pagers in an effort to promote vaccine education within the organization as well as within the migrant labor population of Southwest Georgia.

I created these sector specific one pagers in a collaborative effort to create more awareness for Resilient Northeast Georgia and the Community Resiliency Model (CRM). You can find the published content here on the Resilient Northeast Georgia website.

I created this document for a class project in an effort to increase awareness around COVID-19 and Depression in Older Adults. The 2020 pandemic exposed and exasperated many disparities for multiple groups. Intro to Gerontology 7100 was a wonderful experience that opened my eyes to the beauty of working with a wiser population.

Tooth Fairy Talk: I had the opportunity to develop, implement and evaluate an oral health program for youth alongside 3 colleagues. We implemented a 3-day program at the Boys and Girls Club in Adairsville, Georgia in November of 2019. I was able to dress up as the tooth fairy and have a candid conversation about the importance of oral health and proper oral health skills. The following pictures show case some of the program pieces that I created.

I created this resource manual in collaboration with a former social worker in the state of Georgia for my internship with GEAR UP Georgia. This extensive manual details behavioral healthcare services, emergency services, law enforcement agencies, medical healthcare services and social service agencies in the three metropolitan counties.
